About UsLesley Morgan founded Essex Guinea Pig & Rat Rescue in 1992 under the name ‘Essex Cavy Rescue’. Initially the interest was in keeping and showing guinea pigs; however, it soon became obvious there was a greater requirement for rescue facilities. Following a period of studying the rodent species and becoming employed by a local veterinary practice, the decision to incorporate a rescue facility for rats was approved. In 2001 Essex Guinea Pig and Rat Rescue gained charitable status with main aims of the organisation being to ‘re–home and rehabilitate’. Animals that are not re–homed for whatever reason spend the rest of their natural lives in ‘happy retirement’. We cover all of Essex in particular
Lesley Morgan is a qualified member of the British Association of Rodentologists and Practice Nurse / Branch Manager of a veterinary practice in Rayleigh. Our facilities are approved by the Southend environmental health department and we ensure that we don’t over populate the area to the detriment of our existing guinea pigs / rats. Boarding facilities are available by prior arrangement. |
